SANDY CREEK — Oswego County police arrested a man Monday after he allegedly stole multiple power tools from a residence under construction in Sandy Creek. Five Point Correctional Officer Jacob Snedeker, 25, of 23 Carr Dr., Sandy Creek, NY was arrested for second-degree burglary, a class C felony and fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony after allegedly stealing over $1,000 worth of power tools from a resident’s house that was currently under construction. The victim who owned the residence was out of town from Feb. 23 to Feb. 26, according to authorities, which is when Snedeker allegedly entered the residence unlawfully and stole the tools. Undersheriff Eugene Sullivan said the victim was observant enough to realize his tools had been present in the residence before he went out of town and were gone by the time he arrived back in town. Sullivan said the homeowner had an idea of who had stolen the tools and began investigating the incident. “He did a good job running his own investigation and had excellent descriptions on the tools missing and helped us narrow down some of the persons of interest in the area, and his suspicions ended up being correct,” said Sullivan. Snedeker was arraigned in Sandy Creek Town Court and is scheduled to reappear on March 29.
